In a world where people who have a very "big" heart abandon their newborn, pets are not an exception. It is so easy for us to find a good bunch of cats and dogs and bunnies here and there roaming around the streets, which are most probably lost or abandoned by their owners. If you ever come across those pets which look different in your street, or which look lost, we need to understand that they are either betrayed or accidentally lost from/by their owners and we are in the place to rescue the animal and inform the owner.
It's crucial to rescue lost and abandoned pets and give them a safe environment!
Although some people willingly risk the lives of their pets, many people out there are enjoying and loving the love and care they get from their pets. Some people literally get into stress, depression just because they lose their pets. If you ever come across pets that look different in your street you can do the following steps that can save a life.

Inform your local animal facility of control.
Slowly and cautiously try to reach the animal.
Check whether the animal has a collar with an ID tag or any chip.
Take him to your home until help arrives.
Try to spread the photo of the animal as much as you can.
Try to look for its owners as much as you can.
Traumatized experiences are so common for abandoned or lost pets!
There are so many possibilities that a lost cat may be traumatized or scared. But you can call them and help them reduce their traumatized experience for abandoned pets.
Be calm. Already the cat or dog is scared, you should always be calm and composed while dealing with them. Touch them softly and talk to them in a soft voice.
Don't force the pet to do anything. Let it be and let it feel safe first and then you can gradually connect with it.
In many cases, cats and dogs don't like getting picked up and socializing. You need to act gradually.
The world has so many abandoned pets!

The following survey taken by Mars Petcare India associated with animal welfare experts published "State of Pet Homeless Index" can be shocking for animal persons and welfare people. In that index, almost 80% of the cats and dogs are homeless and remain stray dogs. And the crazy thing here is 34% of cats and 32% of dogs are abandoned by the owners and the remaining are lost. In an aggregate number, almost 80 million cats and dogs are homeless in India.
But why are these many pets abandoned by humans? It's because people are thinking that 82 percent of dogs are stray dogs and they cause danger to their household. Also, the covid 19 is another major reason and that made people fear that dogs and cats may have viruses on them.
In case you ever come across lost pets, and you feel they are hungry, what should you feed them?
In most cases, almost all the pets eat the same things like rice, milk, and stuff. If you ever come across any abandoned or lost pet, after contacting an animal shelter or informing the owner, you should wait and try communicating with the pet. While waiting, you can try to feed them, because most of the animals would be hungry and we don't know how many hours they are standing alone. So you can feed any edible thing that dogs and cats eat, like potatoes, rice, chicken, milk, curd, etc.,
Commonly, the pets might get a wound or something since they are new to the place where they got lost or abandoned, you can help them get treated by taking them to a vet.
Since the place is new for the pets where they are abandoned, you should check the animal if they have any wounds or something. In case you are planning to adopt the pet as you couldn't find the owner, you should take them to the vet and do a basic check-up. This will ensure that the pet doesn't have any issues and it won't give you or your family any kind of allergies.
As already said, abandoned dogs or cats would be confused and scared. You must understand them and make progress slowly. The world is filled with homeless dogs and cats and much more. Most people among us are being so cold-hearted and are easily throwing them away. But dog or cat love is unconditional and it can love you wholly. We need to understand them and let them live peacefully.
